Newsletter June 2017

Good morning

And welcome to June....summer, shades, holidays and Father's day!!!

Is it your head or your brain in the clouds?  Fat clients, thin clients, local or cloud processing.....it all seems to come back around like a bad pair of 70's flairs!  I was just thinking the other day, how the technology behind taking and developing photographs has changed so dramatically and how essential it is for photographers to be technical on at least a basic level.  Where and how you edit photos is changing now and whilst there is some comfort in the fact that the basic elements of a capturing photograph hasn't changed (aperture, shutter speed etc), the options for post processing and storage have exploded and yet, we seem to be even further away from organizing our images than ever!! Ok rant over!!  I am dedicating some of my time to finding a solution for this...so watch this space for updates!

A few months ago, I made a mental note to get to grips with my first social media platform....Facebook and am glad to say that it hasn't been too scary.  In fact, I am now branching out into Instagram and Pinterest...any wise words of advice from this of you who are virtual social butterflies would be awesome at this point!  Anyway....just thought I'd let you know, there isn't much to check out yet, but I working on it :-)

This months latest and greatest section comes from a senior graduation shoot I did last month....I love the warm smiley photos we captured! Take a look at some of the best below.

For the monthly special....I couldn't leave Dads out, now that Mothers Day is behind us, so make sure you take a look at the deal below, dedicated to all the fabulous fathers in June....enjoy your special day!

I managed to sneak a few moments playing with a new toy in the 'For the Photographer in You' section...and with the sun appearing, the timing was perfect....sunglasses for my camera!  I can't wait to experiment with it more!

And finally the fun I've been having with my own images comes from happy grass.....it's almost smiling at you...check out some of my favorite images below.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the June newsletter....do get in touch if you have any questions on anything...I'd love to hear from you😊!

Cheers

For the Photographer in You - Sunglasses for the Camera TOO?!?

Saturday last weekend was a beautiful day and I ran a photo booth at the Nephcure walk in Oak Hill Park in Danville I have had a 10 stop ND filter...don't worry about the jargon basically it means sunglasses for your camera.  I feel like I've had the filter for ages and not done anything with it.  It was a gorgeous sunny day and I wanted to create some images that showed things a little differently - here are some of the images I got.  Essentially the ND filter fits directly on top of your lens like a UV filter (you buy them to fit the lens you have).  It acts like a pair of sunglasses so it allows you to have a very slow shutter speed even when the sun is very bright.  The slow shutter speed created the blur in the images where there was movement.  You can see in the first image, the background is sharp, whilst the people are blurred....curious!  The other images also show a little blur in the background...not intended,  but the result of not using a tripod!

As always...enjoy your photography!!

Little Ditty About My Own Camera Fun - Even the grass is Happy

Taking these photos in May last year just would not have been possible!  This year....we are still getting rain and the tall grass is happily blooming...just stunning flowers.  I love how the light was hitting the flower in the first image....gradually creeping over the flower and only speckled on the concrete in the background to give it a bit of texture.

Quote of the Month

My daughter read this quote to me recently and I thought it was so funny!! I had to share it with you...nothing deep and meaningful, just light humor!!  -
