Capture This - Walking with Wild Flowers
Good morning everyone,

Welcome to my Second blog this month...still following the wild flowers before they make an exit in time for the heat of summer.  These images all come from Morgan territory and really do show a stunning display of beauty.  If you have time over the next week to get up there, I think you won't be disappointed, just watch out for the hectic drive up Morgan Territory Road!!

The first images were from a huge field just filled with all different types of wild flowers....actually as far as the eye can see, and I'm sure you can tell at this point that my knowledge of the names of them is pretty non-existent!  Still, the beauty isn't in the name,

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the images.

The images below are of individual flowers and I have to tell you my technique for these in case you want to try it out!  So macro photography is usually carried out with a tripod and pretty small apertures due to the fact that most photographers want to keep a good proportion of the subject in focus.  Of course the small apertures mean less light and thus this puts a strain on the shutter speed....with us having to reduce it to compensate for the aperture!  With that in mind, I boldly embark with my macro tubes and without the tripod...after all there is only so much one can carry!!!  And it's not my water that's going to get left behind!

So....to make matters more complicated, I chose a pretty windy day!  My result; some images of flowers in focus and other aspects of the elements in the frame out of focus, partly due to the wind!  So to try a new approach - I held my position very still whist taking the images and waited for the flower to be blown into focus and then with lightening quick reactions ( :-) I snapped the shutter!  Some with success and some not so much!

Enjoy....

Ahhh...the beautiful California Poppy...I just love the way the foliage in the background is so out of focus..i don't think I would have got this effect if it hadn't been windy!!

Next Time

Thank you for reading and I hope you have enjoyed this blog. Next month will continue with some interesting natural still life...going to keep it under wraps until June as I'm not sure how it's going to go and might make a last minute change to the topic, but....don't miss it, be sure there will be unpredictable fun and surprises:-)

As always…I would love to hear your comments and images as well if you are also out there shooting blossom in May!!

Cheers
