Capture This - Frost
Good morning everyone,

A little blog post to continue the wintery February theme.  In this blog, I have drilled into a bit more winter detail and taken some shots that are maybe not the most common to take in winter.  We all love the beauty and serenity of snow, but what about frost?  It certainly provides a very different feel to snow and things are not quite as dramatically transformed as they are under a blanket of snow.

The first few images are close ups of leaves with a hard frost.  I just love the additional texture the frost brings and the way that the frost unifies the disjointed elements in the image, by giving them all a common covering whilst still revealing the form of the original subjects.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the images.

The second set below were taken in early morning on a frosty golf course.  I like how the shadows combine with the glistening ice to give the stripy pattern.  Shadows can enhance or detract from a photograph and it's no easy feat to ensure they do the former.  In fact in portrait photographs, they can make what would be a great photo, a terrible one!

I hope you have enjoyed this blog and it helps you to think a little differently when taking photos of wintry subjects.  Don't dismiss subjects, just because you don't see too many images of them :-)

Definitely more snow on the 3rd and final blog for this month...watch out for this one...I have high hopes :-)

As always, do get in touch if you have any questions or comments and of course I would love to see any images you would like to share this month.  I look forward to hearing from you,

Cheers
~Tracey
